Micro-Strip: Are different blades and guides required for different sized fibers?

Yes, each fitted Micro-Strip tool is sized individually to a specific fiber specification. Contact our technical dept. for the correct components for your particular application.

Micro-Strip: Are the stripping blades made in matched pairs, or can they be mixed?

Stripping blades are matched in pairs right and left. Note: do not mix blade halves. Changing of a single blade half may result in poor stripping quality or damage to the glass fiber(s). Click here to e-mail a Technical Support Specialist – Receive an answer within 1 business day!

How long do the blades last before I should replace them?

Is there a procedure for removing/replacing components?

Yes. Incorrect removal/insertion of blade or guide can damage the stripping blade body and result in fiber breakage or poor tool performance. Refer to blade removal section for correct procedure.

How do I measure the strip length?

The Micro-Strip tool handles have a molded strip length gauge on the tool handle for easy and accurate Jacket, Buffer & coating strip lengths.

Does Micro Electronics provide custom blade sizes?

Yes. We have the capability of short-run custom-size blades not listed on our website. Please call our technical dept. with your particular application for lead-time and pricing.

Are the Micro-Strip® & Soft-Strip® tool components compatible with each other?

Yes. The blade sets and fiber coating guides are the same for each system.

Is there a maximum strip length limit with Soft-Strip?

Yes. The MS-3B and MS-4B ‘AA’ battery-powered stripping tools are limited to a 1.25” maximum strip length and the MS-3T and MS-4T ac adaptor-powered tools are limited to a 2.25” maximum strip length.
